The Technical Committee Award Programme is held in a two-year cycle and it honours the contribution of the volunteers in Saint Lucia who are involved in the work of standards development.

Close to one hundred national standards have been developed and some forty five international standards have been adopted using the expertise of volunteers in different spheres of work. Speaking at the gala event to recognize committee members, guest speaker, Massy Stores Divisional Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Ms. Sariah Best-Joseph praised the work of the technical committees for the way the standards they develop are important for order in our society. She said people don’t have to think of the physical things that give structure to their lives because the work of the experts in standards development has solved the problems before they even arise and make things function to make our life easier.

Ms. Joseph theorized that had standards development been a sport, the technical committees would well be considered the MVP’s of their sector.

The Awardees received remarks on behalf of the Minister with responsibility for the SLBS in the Department of Commerce Honourable Bradley Felix by Deputy Permanent Secretary Ms. Peggy-Ann Sudat.

Chairman of the Standards Council Mr. Thomas Edmunds welcomed participants and congratulated the committees for the work accomplished over the two years.

The TC Awards was held on Friday 13th October at the Financial Centre at Point Seraphine, Castries.
