PRESS RELEASE - New Draft Standards Now Available for Comment !!!
SLBS invites Comments on Draft National Standards
August 11, 2015
The Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards has issued two standards for comment. The standards are being proposed for adoption as Saint Lucia National Standards. The standards are concerned with management systems, which is important for the establishment of the framework of policies, processes and procedures used to ensure that organizations can undertake all tasks required to achieve its objectives.
The standards are Quality Management Systems – Fundamentals and vocabulary (ISO 9000: 2015, IDT) and Quality Management Systems – Requirements (ISO 9001: 2015, IDT)
These two standards are popular in the private sector with a number of companies achieving certification to ISO 9001 over the years.
A number of consultants have been offering services to organizations in implementation with a number of public and private sector businesses in an advance stage of readiness for certification.
The SLBS expects keen interest in the discussion of the standards during the comment period.
The public comment phase of the process of adoption of a standard is critical to give users an opportunity for their input in the final document. Standards development places tremendous importance on consensus as a means of ensuring that those with interest are consulted and their views included in the finalization of a document for their use.
The comment period for the two standards began August 10th and will end October 1st. The standards have been distributed to stakeholder associations, public libraries and are available from the SLBS.
All comments on the standards should be addressed to the Head of the Standards Development Department of the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards, Bisee Industrial Estate, Box CP 5412, Castries.
