The Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards is moving closer to certification to ISO 9001:2008 – Quality Management Systems Requirements. In June, twelve members of management, middle management and lower line staff successfully completed training as internal auditors.
The training conducted by Lead Auditor Sheryl Anderson of Quality Systems Solutions & Initiatives (QSSI) out of Jamaica; was conducted over five days at the end of which the internal auditors all matriculated and received certificates of achievement.
The internal auditor training is critical to the SLBS as part of maintaining the health of its quality management system for which the organization has been pursuing certification for some time now. The SLBS has completed the first phase of work with the documentation of its system in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001.

While the SLBS will be pursuing certification for the entire organization, the SLBS has prioritized the critical control points within the operational realization process and quality checks within the standards development, inspection, training, metrology, testing and certification.
The Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards is moving apace with its programme for certification, while provide technical support to other organizations with documenting and implementing a quality management system.
