STANDARDS Link Vol 2 Issue 12 - SLBS Promotes Business Development

                                                                     

The SLBS joined the Ministry of Commerce, Business Development, Investment and Consumer Affairs in a “Business Exposium” to mark Global Entrepreneurship Week 2013. 

The SLBS’ participation was key, meeting the aim of networking with business support partners and entrepreneurs with the objective of the growth and development of local business. 

The SLBS used the opportunity to promote a range of products and services geared at trade facilitation and competitiveness.  There was particular interest by participants in a series of standards being promoted by the SLBS as premier products for business solutions. 

Through an information desk technical staff of the SLBS shared materials and insights on the ISO 9000 family of quality management standards.  There was immense excitement in the food sector about ISO 2200, which prescribes requirements for food safety management. 

The SLBS also teamed up with the Saint Lucia Coalition of Services to promote the newly adopted Code of Practice for Beauty and Wellness.  Judging from the response of persons in the sector it was a keenly anticipated presentation which was well received by the sector. 

The sector has indicated its eagerness about the implementation of a certification programme based on the code of practice which they hope will harmonize the definition of quality when referring to the sector.

 The “Business Exposium” was held at the Indies Conference Room on Novemebr 18th and 19th 2013.
