Saint Lucia is being represented at the 14th Council Meeting of the CARICOM Regional Organization for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) by Director of the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards Dr. Darius Gabriel.
The CARICOM Regional Organization for Standards and Quality was established in 2003 by a Caribbean Community (CARICOM) treaty as an Intergovernmental Organization and the regional centre for promoting efficiency and competitive production in trade and services, through the process of standardization and the verification of quality.
The meeting is being held in St. Vincent and the Grenadines from April 27th to the 30, 2009.
Also taking place at the meeting is will be a programme planning session of the CROSQ/IDB-MIF - Harmonized Regional Quality Infrastructure project for improving market access and competitiveness.
It is expected that the project will achieve its purpose through five components, namely:
The project is being funded by the MIF through its Technical Cooperation Facility with the Inter American Development Bank (IADB) and CROSQ counterpart funds partly financed through a collaboration agreement with Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstal (PTB); PTB is the national metrology institute (NMI) of Germany.
